Separated by Mark Borgions

A very beautiful music video made by Belgian designer Mark Borgions for Stan Lee Cole’s ‘separated’-song.

The animation was made with ‘Toon Boom Harmony’ and a little ‘After Effects’. Like the song itself, it tells the sad story of couples separating and literally feeling incomplete without your other half. Enjoy!

Work in progress : Marja Meijer

Dutch illustrator Marja Meijer is working on new book: What A Lousy Weather, written by Miriam Mous. Marja’s drawings are always frivolous and cheerful, it seems like their lines flow from her pencil in a most natural way.

This is also the case for these images I found on her Facebookpage: on one side you can see the sketch and on the other side the coloured illustration. Both illustrations are from What A Lousy Weather.

The illustration below is a different story. This is a cover Marja illustrated for “Ootje”, a collection of stories by Lida Dijkstra.
Unfortunately, the publication of this book was delayed.

Mieke Lamiroy

At first sight I thought:’ This is somebody who paid good attention in art history class.’ This work breaths pop art. Though it has a lot more layers.

Mieke is an independent illustrator from Belgium. On her own tab since 1995. She already worked with loads of publishers and libraries. And she calls herself a graphic illustrator. Check!

If you know anything about drawing or making pictures. You’ll want to hold (and) or capture a feeling in your drawing. To search and master an emotion. Look and look further. Then you have to see this Belgian illustrator’s work. Jawdroppingly beautiful. If I had a hat, I would take it off and salute this man from Antwerp.
